Brief description:
Lenord + Bauer has been offering the so-called Combined Engineering Program, which takes five
years, since 2004.
For the first two years, the program includes three days of in-house training in Oberhausen per
week. The apprenticeship training culminates in a professional examination (Gesellenprüfung IHK),
followed by six semesters of full-time college studies, including one internship semester.
The training at Lenord + Bauer after the Gesellenprüfung, i.e. after the IHK (chamber of
commerce and industry) diploma, aims to familiarize students with practical engineering work during
their full-time studies, for example by employing them as student assistants. The students also
spend their required internship semester at the company. For their thesis, they select a subject
with high practical relevance.
In this way, future engineers can collect lots of practical engineering experience already
during their studies on real projects and plan their professional future in a familiar work
environment. The company benefits from training its own junior engineering staff - a worthwhile
investment since its know-how and expertise can be kept in-house this way.
